You can expect a warm welcome at a range of opportunities that are designed to help you connect with others at Syndal. In addition to mid-week activities there are usually three English-speaking Sunday Worship Services. Each Worship Service has varying characteristics. If you would like to come to a Worship Service, here's some helpful hints:
1. Choose the service that suits you best
The 8.30am service appeals predominantly to people in their middle and senior years, although some younger adults and families love it too. Overall it tends to be the quieter service and is perfect for early birds who enjoy a more gentle approach to worship. Although intentionally not 'traditional', hymns are more likely to be sung here than at the other services, although not necessarily weekly.
The 10.30am service attracts people of all ages and runs concurrently with the Vietnamese-speaking and Chinese-speaking (Cantonese and Mandarin) Worship Services. Many families attend at 10.30am as it coincides with our Children's program, Tribe.
The Sunday evening gathering commences at 6pm and usually wraps up about 7.30pm. While focused at youth and young adults who make up the majority of the crowd, people of all ages love its energy and diversity along with its contemporary worship and practical messages.
2. If you have Children
Children from all congregations gather together at 10.20am for our multi-cultural children's program, Tribe. If your child is attending Tribe for the first time, please fill out a registration form so leaders can provide the best care for them.
Our Youth program for Secondary School students happens on Friday nights.
3. As you arrive
Depending on which service you attend, you may find Car Park attendants waiting to help you find a park and someone in the car park to direct you to the main entrance. If not, just follow the crowd through the pink doors and up the stairs. Near the entrance of the Auditorium you may be offered a Newsletter which contains details of upcoming activities. Once inside you will find a Welcome Folder at the end of each row. Please look inside and complete a Blue Card if you would like us to begin to get to know you or pray for specific requests. Hosts are available to assist you with directions to seats, childcare facilities or amenities.
4. After the Service
If you've not already done so, you can visit the Newcomers' Booth immediately behind the central doors as you leave the auditorium. There you find out more about Syndal, meet others and ask questions. A cuppa is available after each morning service. On the fourth Sunday of each month, after each morning service, there is a special Newcomers' Morning Tea for all who feel 'newish' to Syndal and includes good food, new friends and an optional tour.
