Syndal Baptist Church is committed to caring for people through a network of care called BIGCare.
BIGCare has four components = B+I+G+C
B = Best Care
Best Care happens best in Life Groups, where those who know you best know best how to care for you. Best Care usually happens in the ‘everyday stuff of life’ as Life Group members interact with each other, share life together and support one another. Life Groups are multi-sized groups that might include family and friends, or they might gather people from specific age, stage, gender or language groups, or have very a diverse and/or multicultural flavour.
I = Intensive Care
Intensive Care happens in times of crisis, challenge or change, when you are not in a Life Group or when your Life Group, for whatever reason, is unable to meet your needs. Intensive Care usually happens in homes, hospitals or wherever the care is needed. Intensive Care includes visits, phone calls, cards and prayer support, along with practical help such as transport, meals, childcare and gardening which is provided by an extensive network of volunteers.
G = General Care
General Care happens routinely and regularly for everyone, whether you are in a Life Group or Intensive need, or not. General Care generally happens at the Life Centre in relation to events and activities that take place there. General Care includes a warm welcome, name tags for everyone, Welcome Folders and Care Cards, updated information on the Information Desk & Notice Boards, provision of refreshments, umbrellas on rainy days ... anything that generally says, “We care”.
C = Congregational Care
Congregational Care happens when people like you become pastors to one another. Congregational Care happens spontaneously and intentionally as people listen to, care for, pray with and respond to one another.
How can I get involved?
Intensive Care and General Care are administered through willing volunteers who join Care Teams in their area of interest. As needs arise, volunteers are invited to assist. Volunteers are encouraged to say “Yes” when they can and “No” when they need to, without any sense of obligation or need for apology. BIGCare is a team effort and we work together to support and encourage one another as we are able.
