some of our people

Having been an active part of our local community for over 50 years, Syndal Baptist is a multi-cultural church that serves and supports people of all ages. It is large enough to make a difference in the world and small enough to care for an individual. Connecting with over 1000 people weekly, Syndal Baptist Church has English, Chinese and Vietnamese speaking congregations and numerous mid-week opportunities for you to explore.

Our Mission

We exist to: Present Jesus, Provide Nurture, Produce Disciples

Our Vision

To be a church growing in the community, reflecting, serving and transforming it, for the good of the world. As we reflect on the journey of life, we see lives changed as people trust their lives to Jesus. People facing seemingly insurmountable challenges can continue to grow through the experiences of life with the care and encouragement of others and the faithfulness of God. We continue to be reminded again and again that we exist primarily for the people who are not our members and this keeps us focused on mission as our primary reason for being. Join us in one of our many services or program of activities. We would love to welcome you at Syndal.

Logo

The symbol of "The Gift" was refined from portraying The Cross. It also suggests a special ribbon (bow) or gift-wrapped present, illustrating our Mission Statement of ...

  • Present Jesus - God's gift to the world
  • Provide Nurture - our gift to each other
  • Produce Disciples - our gift/response to God and our world

This is encapsulated in the tagline "Life Together is a gift".

Our History

Syndal Baptist Church began in 1954 in the home of a young couple who had recently moved into the newly developing Syndal area. When the church outgrew the home, the members built a building now known as the Williams Hall. When the church outgrew the Williams Hall, a new church building, now known as the East Auditorium, was constructed. As the church continued to grow, the buildings expanded. The church subsequently obtained ownership of the site on the corner of Blackburn and High Street Roads, and in mid 2008 our newest building was completed. The buildings are collectively known as the Life Centre. We are now a multi-age, multi-ethnic church, with Cantonese, Mandarin and Vietnamese speaking congregations as well as people from many other different cultural backgrounds.
