At SBC in 2012, we don't care less .... we care more!
SBC continues to develop its 'BIGCare' network.
BIGCare has four complementary components of care:
B = Best Care
Best Care happens in Life Groups, where those who know you best know best how to care for you.
Best Care happens in the ‘everyday stuff of life’ as Life Group members interact with each other, share life together and support one another. Life Groups are multi-sized groups that vary considerably. Some might consist mainly of family and friends. Others might gather people from specific age, stage, gender or language groups. Still others may have a diverse or multicultural flavour.
I = Intensive Care
Intensive Care happens in times of crisis, challenge or change, when you are not in a Life Group or when your Life Group, for whatever reason, is unable to meet your needs.
Intensive Care usually happens in homes, hospitals or wherever the care is needed. Intensive Care includes visits, phone calls, cards and prayer support, along with practical help such as transport, meals, childcare and gardening which is provided by an extensive network of volunteers.
G = General Care
General Care happens routinely and regularly for everyone, whether you are in a Life Group or Intensive need, or not.
General Care generally happens at the Life Centre in relation to events and activities that take place there. General Care includes a warm welcome, name tags for everyone, Welcome Folders and Care Cards, updated information on the Information Desk & Notice Boards, provision of refreshments, umbrellas on rainy days ... anything that generally says, “We care”.
C = Congregational Care
Congregational Care happens both spontaneously and systematically when people become pastors to one another.
Congregational Care happens as people listen to, sit with, smile at, care for, include, encourage, pray with, keep in touch with and respond appropriately to one another.
How can I get involved?
BIGCare is a team effort. We work together to 'share the care' and 'be there' for one another as we are able.
